Freedoms allow us to shape our lives according to our desires and convictions and to develop in a wide variety of ways. They also enable important social processes and functions, for example by guaranteeing freedom of speech, freedom of the press or freedom of science.
On the other hand, freedoms find their limits in the rights of others. Moreover, no guarantee of freedom is permanent, but their scope and form can be subject to change. Often, they are also exposed to political repression or a wide variety of other threats.
In this seminar, we explore the role and importance of various forms of freedom for our daily lives, and discuss experiences and views with invited experts from various professions.
